How it works

Metacognition is the ability to think about thinking, without spiraling.
It means creating enough distance to observe your thoughts, emotions, and reactions without immediately identifying with them or acting on them.
From this distance, repetitive ways of thinking, feeling, and responding become easier to notice, and eventually change.

Play Patterns is built to train metacognitive abilities, using symbolic meaning and archetypal psychology as tools for introspection, creativity, and self-exploration.

Through guided reflection, journaling, art-making, and mind-body practices, Play Patterns invites you to observe the patterns shaping your everyday experience: how you think, what you feel, how you interpret situations, and how you respond.

Created for people who

  • tend to overthink or spiral, and struggle to find a resolution
  • feel emotionally disconnected or creatively blocked
  • want calmer and more intentional routines
  • are looking for self-practice beyond the productivity culture
  • want to better understand why they think and feel the way they do, instead of constantly trying to “fix” themselves
  • value honest introspection without the pressure to publicly perform vulnerability or healing

Archetypal Tarot

Tarot is used as a system of archetypes and symbolic thinking that represents a companion on the journey of self-exploration.

The focus is not prediction, but meaning-making through pattern recognition and perspective shifts.

For each card there is archetypal meaning and a creative exercise. Every time you pull a random number of Tarot cards, you get a surprising combination of creative practices, making your me-time a unique self-exploration moment.

Our foundations

Inspired by Jungian archetypal psychology and philosophies of language, emotion, and thought, Play Patterns is a structured tool for introspection, active imagination, and emotional awareness.

Built for mind clarity, creativity, and inner coherence, the practice encourages intentional participation in one’s own wellbeing.
